The strength limitations of the 2010-2024 Toyota 4Runner and 2010-2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser’s factory steering tie rods have been well documented over the years, especially by Toyota owners who venture into the big rocks with big tires. These ICON XD Forged Tie Rods remedy this with better materials and beefier dimensions than the stock units. The inner tie rod and ball stud is CNC machined from 4140 chromoly with metal-on-metal bearing surfaces for durability that far exceeds the plastic inner races of the factory components. The adjustment threads are 12% larger in diameter compared than stock Tacoma tie rods for a further increase in strength. The outer tie rod is forged steel and has the same profile as the stock tie rods for fitting all of the Tacoma’s factory wheel diameters and offsets, along with just about any aftermarket wheel. The tie rod end is a beefier, metal-on-metal joint that is greaseable for extended service life and has the same range of operating angle as the stock tie rod ends. For the most hardcore of off-roaders, the ICON XD Forged Tie Rod kit is recommended as part of a comprehensive steering system upgrade strategy. Using ICON’s holistic engineering philosophy, our R&D team went above and beyond to develop several stages of complete suspension systems that provide varying levels of adjustability, capability, and overall vehicle performance. ICON’s Stage 4 system is comprised of CDCV equipped V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series remote reservoir front and piggyback reservoir rear shocks, billet aluminum Delta Joint Pro HD upper control arms, and torsion keys that allow for 2-3.5” of front lift height adjustment. The ICON vehicle specific tuned 2.5 Aluminum Series shocks with CDCV are the key to attaining optimum ride quality and getting that desired comfort with the 3/4 & 1-ton working capability with their larger diameter, piston area, internal bump zones, and oil volume working to control rough terrain better than smaller diameter shocks. Remote reservoirs also greatly increase shock oil volume and heat dissipation surface area to resist overheating and cavitation under hard use, which can lead to damper fade. ICON 2014+ Ram 2500 2in Standard Rear 2.5 VS PB CDEV Pair
ICON Vehicle Specific (V.S.) 2.5 Aluminum Series shocks with CDEV are designed and built to give your vehicle outstanding performance off-road and a smooth ride on the street. These shocks are configured specifically for each application in both length and damping tune. For piggyback and specific remote reservoir applications, ICON’S unique use of a 6061-billet aluminum manifold a few inches below the top cap of the shock creates an internal Bump Zone that when used creates an additional 20% of damping force. This additional force helps prevent harsh bottom outs and controls the suspension when compressing at high velocity. Like all ICON’S Shock Absorbers, V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series shocks with CDEV are fully rebuildable and re-tunable. The ICON CDE Valve upgrade is included for those desiring an easy way to tune the ride electronically from inside the vehicle.
